Division G: OF China/Resin: Grand Champion Overall Halter was chosen for the realistic conformation and coloring done in china of a brown dun jennet. The detail to eye and even the fine hairs in the jennet's ears are captured on film. Reserve for this divison went to a OF Beswick which correctly displays the well balance of a foundation type Appaloosa. It reminds of the Red Eagle of the 1001 Ranch horses I owned when I was a kid on our horse ranch in Sunny Valley, Oregon. I took these horses who were like this model slightly more thoroughbred in bone structure with a refined head and very loudly colored and cross bred them to QHs of halter and racing bloodlines to start a very successful breeding, racing and showing program. The addition of a well fitted silver with turquoise accents halter helped to turn out this entry.

Division H: OF MM/SM/LB: This division was very deep for quality entries. Many final placements were made while using a large magnifying glass to choose between a run of 1 to 10 horses per class. Congratulations goes to everyone as you all have a every nice collection of original finish. Still some confusion over pinto patterns and a few of you need to read up on the subject. Another thing is to really watch for burying those tiny hooves in the ground footing you are using. Many judges will mark you down if they can't see the hooves completely. My choice for Grand goes to the new Breyer Morgan and a photo that caught the detail in the face and eyes right down to the facial veining. The shading of the model is lovely on the entrant's submission and the angle of the model caught the typey muscling and shorter topline of the Morgan breed. My Reserve went to an OF PS Chips in a lilac dun color that brought out the QH conformation and added some refinement to the neck and head that this mold normally lacks. The pattern of the pinto also gave a look of more muscling to the hip and bloom which is another lacking feature of this mold. The angle of the camera also helped in getting this entry the Overall Reserve.
