Division I: CM & AR Micro Mini, SM or LB: All the horses were in scale to backgrounds. Photos were clear and backgrounds were compatible to the subject. Several of these horses just jumped right out at you. In many of the larger classes horses from 1st through 6th were all quality enough to be pinned a first so that the first place horses were chosen on the addition of personal choice. This after all the entries in those "deep" classes had met my judging standard of structure, conformation and color pertaining to the breed the model was representing. A very few of the total entries submitted were placed down due to hooves hidden by dirt or glassy footing or heads and toplines lost in the background photos. While I'll forgive a nice performance entry for not getting all the hoof in the photo it is pretty hard to be judging conformation and not have the hoof showing. Grand Champion went to custom repaint Breyer Classic QH frame overo. Simple repaint but a really nice photo with a realistic look to it. Reserve Grand went to a custom artist resin Majoriffic done in a very detailed grey sabino by Jane Schneider. Honorable Mention went to a rose grey Custom Breyer by Dragonridge Studios with attention to a lighter grey head than body and lovely dapples. The other Honorable Mention went to a classic artist resin as a chestnut peruvian paso mare with full engagement in the rear end.

Division J: MM/SM/LB or Classic Perfomance: Wringing tails in WP is a major fault. It shows that the horse is fighting either the bit, the riders hands or other aids or the cinch is bothering the horse. Therefore the Breyer Jogging Stock Horse is not an idea WP Horse. He also appears to be stringhalted in the right rear leg. Bridges with rails are considered an illegal obstacle in most all breed sanction shows. AQHA changed their ruling in 1974 when a horse fell through the rails broke it's leg and killed the rider when she broke her neck crushed between the rails and the horse. All other breed association followed suit within 2 years as the insurance is very high to show shows. I did not DQ the horse's that used this obstacle but I did place them down. Ground poles require a mininum of 4 poles for walk, trot/jog or canter/lope overs. Watch for the placement of headstall straps too close to horse's eye or equipment excessively out of scale. Wringing tails in cutting is a fault. In cutting the horse walks slowly into the herd, rider picks a bovine and takes it to the center of arena. No work is done on the fence, except in Working Cowhorse. Trail Natural requires the handling of an obstacle. Doesn't anyone make halters for showmanship in mini disvision? I was surprised to see no entries since halters are the easiest of tack making. The Grand Performance horse was chosen for wins in multiple disciplines. I thought you might like to see three of them with tack done in such tiny scale. The Reserve went to a Fjord that competed and placed high in all discplines. Honorable Mention went to a wonderful photo of herding the calves back to barn with the help of a dog buddy. Horse is a SM AR painted buckskin dapple by Meredith McFadden. The other Honorable Mention is for a depiction of clearing an oxer/liverpool fence. The dark dapple grey SM AR is painted by Gretchen O'Neil. The Headstudies went to two Original finish Breyers with lots of eye detail and shaded coloring.
